Bad Salzungen's New Cooking Event Unites Locals and Newcomers Through Food
A new cooking event in Bad Salzungen has brought together more than 50 people from different backgrounds. Called Cooking & Connecting, the gathering let locals and newcomers share recipes and cook meals from various cultures. Organisers now plan to make it a regular feature in the town’s calendar. The first Cooking & Connecting session took place at the Multi-Generational Center. Over 50 attendees, young and old, prepared dishes while exchanging stories and traditions. The event aimed to foster connections between residents and those new to the area.
Abdul Sabur Rahmani from Unity Hub Bad Salzungen and Kevin Rodeck, the city’s volunteer integration officer, led the initiative. Support came from the City of Bad Salzungen and partners in the Intercultural Meeting Point network. Due to its success, the event will now run quarterly at a minimum. The next session is scheduled for the first Thursday of each month at 5 p.m., also at the Multi-Generational Center. Those wanting to join can email [email protected] for details.
The event’s organisers have set a clear schedule for future gatherings. With monthly sessions planned, Cooking & Connecting will continue offering a space for cultural exchange through food. Residents and newcomers alike are encouraged to take part in the upcoming meetings.
