Arzamas Tavern-Keeper Festival Returns with Food as Art Theme on May 16

The 6th Arzamas Tavern-Keeper Gastronomy Festival will return on May 16. This year’s event celebrates the 250th anniversary of Alexander Stupin and runs under the motto Food as Art. Visitors can explore traditional dishes from the Nizhny Novgorod region while enjoying live performances and crafts. The festival will take place at Gaidar Culture and Recreation Park from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Guests can sample signature dishes like At the Pike’s Command, goose cooked in the Feshin style, and Meshchanochka with meat. Local ingredients such as goose, onions, and potatoes will feature prominently in the menu.

Beyond food, the event includes a food court, the *Arzamas of Craftsmen* fair-exhibition, and a concert programme with music and dance. The festival first launched in 2021 and quickly gained recognition, earning third place at the 10th Russian Event Awards. Last year’s 5th anniversary edition attracted nearly 10,000 attendees.

This year’s festival builds on its growing popularity by blending gastronomy, culture, and history. Organisers aim to showcase regional traditions while offering entertainment for all ages. The event remains free to attend, with activities running throughout the afternoon.
