Ardbeg Unleashes Its First Cask-Strength 10-Year-Old Whisky for Committee Members
Ardbeg has unveiled its first-ever cask-strength version of the iconic 10-year-old single malt whisky. The new release, named Ardbeg Ten Cask-Strength, will be available exclusively to members of the Ardbeg Committee from February 24. This edition marks the highest ABV yet for any Ardbeg Committee bottling, at 61.7%.
The whisky was matured in hand-selected American oak bourbon casks, including experimental barrels filled with undiluted spirit. Unlike standard releases, this expression is bottled at full cask-strength, delivering a more intense concentration of flavours. Tasting notes describe aromas of toffee, tar, fennel, and sea spray, followed by bold, sweet sooty tastes of peat moss, malt, and smoked cinnamon.
Priced at an RRP of $155, the bottle will be sold through the Ardbeg website. Australian whisky enthusiasts will also have the chance to taste and purchase it at select Ardbeg embassies across the country.
The launch coincides with a leadership update at the distillery. Master Blender Gillian MacDonald and Distillery Manager Bryony McNiven have taken on new roles as co-Chairs of Ardbeg, overseeing future releases and operations.
Ardbeg Ten Cask-Strength arrives as the brand's most potent Committee edition to date. Its undiluted bottling and experimental cask maturation aim to offer a richer, more robust flavour profile. The release will be closely watched by collectors and fans of peated whisky alike.
