Le Cordon Bleu Madrid has selected 50 of the most promising young culinary students to participate in the 14th edition of the Promising Chefs Award. Among the 50 selected to progress to the next stage of the competition, four hail from Almeria.

What's the next step?

The next stage of this prestigious national competition will see the selected students compete via video recipes for one of the ten available spots in the grand finale. The videos should not exceed 5 minutes and must be submitted by January 15th.

While participants will follow established competition guidelines, there is plenty of freedom to stand out. Competitors are encouraged to show their skills, demonstrate their technique and preferably honour recipes and produce from their home regions.

These videos will be posted to the Promising Chefs Award YouTube channel, starting from January 20th. This will allow the public to not only get a good luck at the dishes submitted for judging, but also allow them to rate their favourite videos. This public vote will then be combined with the evaluations of the school's teachers who will act as a jury and make the final selection for which students will reach the final.

What's the prize?

Winning this competition could catapult any young chef into the limelight, kickstarting their culinary career. Previously, the Promising Young Chef Award has spotlighted major culinary talent, including Almeria chef Cristobal Muñoz. Muñoz won the first edition of the competition in 2012 and later went on to earn a Michelin star in 2023.

This competition is a clear example of Le Cordon Bleu Madrid's continued commitment to mentoring the next generation of chefs. Participating in this even is not only great exposure, but also a once in a life-time opportunity for these young chegs to gain invaluable knowledge from industry professionals.

The finalists will be announced on February 23rd and the grand final will take place in April at Le Cordon Bleu Madrid kitchens, with two scholarships worth€24,000 and €9,000 awarded to the top finishers.
