Paid 2500 for coffee and a sandwich - won't do that again. How to eat cheaply at the airport

Airport food prices in 2026: Where to eat—and where to avoid

Airport food prices remain high in 2026, with significant differences depending on location. Travellers can save money by choosing where they eat—or by bringing their own meals. The cost of a simple burger or bowl of soup can vary by hundreds of rubles within the same terminal. The cheapest option is still packing food from home. For those buying at the airport, prices shift dramatically between zones. In the check-in areas of Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo, regular supermarkets offer standard prices. A bowl of soup at Domodedovo’s Mu-Mu cafeteria costs just 190 rubles, while a burger in Pulkovo’s arrivals area sells for 450 rubles.

Staff canteens provide some of the best value. At Vnukovo, employees pay between 250 and 300 rubles for a hot meal. But in the departure lounge, the same burger jumps to 850 rubles. Shops and cafés before passport control are 30–50% cheaper than those after. Business lounges at Sheremetyevo charge between 2,500 and 3,500 rubles for entry, though they include buffets with soups, hot dishes, desserts, and coffee. Despite these options, airport dining has not become more affordable this year.

Travellers face stark price differences depending on where they buy food. Eating before security or choosing staff canteens cuts costs significantly. For those unwilling to pay premium prices, bringing a meal from home remains the most budget-friendly choice.
