Abu Dhabi's First Croissanterie Transforms Pastry Into an Artful Experience

Abu Dhabi has welcomed its first Croissanterie—Flaky Pastry—at The Galleria Al Maryah Island. The 159 sq.m. space blends artisanal craftsmanship with design, turning the process of croissant-making into an immersive experience. Every detail, from walls to ceilings, reflects the textures and shapes of laminated dough and baked pastries. The interior was designed by studio TwentyOne06 to mirror the journey of croissant creation. Textured linear walls and fluted finishes mimic the elongated triangular cuts of dough layers. Even the curved wooden bench and sculpted wall textures take inspiration from the crescent form of freshly baked croissants.

Above, a layered fabric ceiling installation echoes the flaky structure of the pastry itself. The design also incorporates Flaky's signature brand colours, reinforcing the connection between space and product. The pastry display counter, clad in a soft stone texture, includes integrated shelving for a seamless look. Terrazzo tabletops and tiled floors are speckled to resemble scattered pastry flakes, while the stone-effect counter fascia evokes the feel of flour-dusted surfaces. Each element works together to tell the story of croissant craftsmanship through form and texture.

Flaky Pastry marks the third location for the Flaky Pastry Croissant Company. The Abu Dhabi outpost stands out as the brand's first dedicated Croissanterie, offering a space where design and pastry-making intertwine. Visitors can now experience the art of croissants not just through taste, but through the carefully crafted surroundings.
