A birthday celebration in Vienna took an unexpected turn for one reveller. The night of drinking stretched long, leaving memories hazy and the next morning far from pleasant. Instead of the planned recovery, the day unfolded with fast food, a mountain hike, and two exhausted dogs.

The evening began at Vienna’s Karmelitermarkt, where drinks and food filled half the day. By the end of the night, the exact number of glasses consumed had blurred. A subway ride home to Transdanubia followed, with sleep overtaking them before the journey ended.

Upon waking, a throbbing hangover set in. The usual cure—a jog, water, and a healthy meal—was abandoned. Instead, a trip to McDonald’s came first. Then, at the foot of a mountain, a soda with lemon was ordered before tackling the hike.

Two dogs, still leashed but sprawled on scorching asphalt, had spent hours recovering from the night before. Their owner, now wide awake, faced a day far removed from the original plan.
